Language is the ability to understand (receptive language) and communicate (expressive language) effectively. Difficulties may occur in either one or both of these areas, commonly referred to as a 'language disorder'. A language disorder can occur in isolation or in some cases, in the presence of other medical diagnosis/conditions.
