What Is A Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist?
A musculoskeletal physiotherapist is a person who has completed a physiotherapy degree and works within the private sector. They will be registered with AHPRA and have a treating provider number (similar to that of a doctor). They will often use manual therapy treatment techniques such as joint mobilisation, manipulation and massage in conjunction with exercise programs, to restore normal function. A specialised musculoskeletal physiotherapists is someone who has completed post-graduate training in 'Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy'.
Physiotherapists focus on effective assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries to joints, muscles, bones and/or nerves.
